Our contract is intended to accomplish a few simple goals. These goals are first, to provide puppy buyers with our warranty on hereditary health problems. Second, to ensure that our puppies will always have a good home. Third, to ensure that the puppies are not used for breeding without health clearances.

Contract
This contract is between Joe and Marcia Blaine, herein after referred to as "Sellers" and/or "Breeders" and
___________________________________________________________, herein after referred to as "Buyer."
In consideration of payment in full of the purchase price of Dollars ($ ) by Buyer to Sellers, Sellers agrees to transfer to Buyer, subject to the terms and conditions contained in this contract, the ownership of one Male/Female Newfoundland puppy, herein after referred to as the "Puppy" (regardless of age), from the mating of the sire and dam identified below.

Pickup/Shipping
As soon as is reasonably possible after the Puppy is eight weeks of
age, Sellers will make the Puppy available to be picked up by Buyer, or Sellers
will ship the Puppy to Buyer. Buyer
shall be responsible for all shipping expenses which shall be paid in advance
of shipping.
Registration papers WILL NOT be shipped with the Puppy. Sellers will forward registration papers to Buyer within 10 days of Buyer’s receipt of the Puppy.
Puppy Health at Pickup/Shipping
Sellers shall have the Puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian as
near as feasible to the pickup or shipping date and determined to be free of
disease or injury. Should the Puppy not be free of disease or injury, Sellers
shall notify Buyer and pickup or shipping shall be delayed until any health
problem is resolved.
The Puppy will have first shots
and will be up-to-date on worming.
Registration and Breeding
Sellers will provide
Limited American Kennel Club Registration.
1. The Puppy
must have a preliminary OFA hip evaluation of
Good or Excellent; OR if
two years of age have a final OFA of Fair, Good, or Excellent.
2. The Puppy’s heart must have been examined by a ACVIM
(Cardiology or Internal Medicine) Diplomate and
deemed to be free of inherited disease including Sub-Aortic Stenosis
after one year of age;
3. Buyer has provided to Breeders legible copies of the above
veterinarian examination reports or clearance certificates.
4. If the
dog is bred after attaining full registration, he or she may ONLY be
bred to another dog with these same (or more stringent) standards of health
clearances.
5. The dog
must have hips and heart registered at OFA database after completion of final
hip rating.
I have read the conditions for
changing to full registration and understand that this dog may not meet the
higher standards for breeding.

Health Guarantee
Health Warranty:
Within one year of purchase
Breeder agrees to take possession of this pup and replace it with another puppy
of the same sex and color from the next available litter or refund the amount
of the original purchase price if the refund is to be used for treatment of the
dog, if either of the following occurs:
1. Puppy shows
degenerative hip disease through a preliminary screening from OFA after 6 months
of age. Severe, crippling hip dysplasia MUST be
diagnosed by an OFA pre-lim evaluation. This will
involve your vet taking OFA
This entire health guarantee is null and void IF the puppy has a
history of accident, abuse, neglect OR a history
of an injury resulting in ANY broken bones, or has been maintained in an
overweight condition.
2.The
puppy is diagnosed with congenital heart disease by means of either 1) clinical
observation; 2) grade 3 or greater murmur; or 3) ultrasound (echocardiogram) with
visual confirmation of a life-threatening disorder (not accelerated blood
velocity without visual confirmation).
3. In addition we also guarantee this
puppy against any life-threatening congenital disorders for 1 year from date of
purchase.
Please
note that this warranty does not guarantee that the pet will meet our higher
heart and joint standards for breeding purposes which are not necessary for a
pet to have a long, healthy, active life.

Any shipping/delivery charges for the
replacement pup are the responsibility of the owner. Replacement with another
puppy will end Highlander
o
Buyer
must provide Sellers with documentation of the inherited genetic disease;
o
The Puppy
has received proper immunizations and monthly heart worm preventative.
o
The Puppy
must be returned to Sellers along with the Puppy’s Registration properly
signed, transferring ownership back to Sellers.
o
If
Buyer wishes to keep the Puppy, the Puppy must be neutered if a male or spayed
if a female, and proof that the procedure has been performed must be provided
to Sellers by the veterinarian that performed the procedure.

Buyer's Responsibility
Buyer agrees to conduct him/herself as a responsible dog owner.
Buyer agrees that Buyer is solely
responsible for all costs and expenses of and related to the ownership of the
Puppy including but not limited to feeding, veterinary care and training.
Buyer agrees that the puppy will be
confined in a fenced yard at appropriate times and will NEVER be chained as a
method of permanent containment. It is generally agreed that chaining your pet
is one thing that has the ability to change his temperament.
Should you be unable to keep this
puppy for any reason, you are required to notify Highlander
